Getting glam for office drinks

Grooming and make up

  • The night before your office drinks, girls get your little makeup bag ready with all your essentials. Mascara, powder, blush, lippy...be prepared

  • To get a sultry sophisticated look, glam up your day look with fabulous red lipstick. When wearing red lipstick, think classy not trashy. Check out our resident make up artist, Sandra's tips above

  • Check nails are polished and even better match your night time red lippy.

Bling with accessories

  • Transform your day look with dramatic and bold accessories. We love the latest look of layering gold and silver chain necklaces

  • If you are petite, give the illusion of height with eye catching earrings, but keep the sparkle simple so you don't blind your co-workers

  • Add a fabulous cocktail ring or an amazing statement cuff. Take a bejewelled clutch to finish the look.

Stay sophisticated but sexy

  • Book a fake tan a few days in advance to give you a Summer glow

  • Show off your tanned legs and add a fierce pair of stunning peep toe shoes. Dressed in statement heels, it's sure to get you walking on the wild side while looking sophisticated among work colleagues.

Make up tips for the festive season

Summer is fast approaching as is the Festive Season but how’s a girl to know what works as the temperature sores and her makeup melts.

We asked CHIC in the City’s resident Makeup Guru, Sandra Glynn to share her latest makeup tips so you stay fabulous all Summer... here's what Sandra had to say:

"First and foremost cleanse and moisturise. MV Organic Skincare is my favourite cleanser and moisturiser. The range is amazing!

I highly recommend using a primer. Primers have been designed to smooth the look of fine lines/open pores, reduce redness, matt oil and make your makeup last longer. I love ERA Spray on Primer $55 or Melli Cosmetics Velvet Primer $68.

Once you’ve primed your ready for foundation. You can’t beat ERA Spray on Foundation $72 for perfect coverage. I was in Dubai recently and my Era Spray on Foundation withstood the heat and humidity. Plus ERA has an SPF 20, is water, wear resistant and is so light you’ll feel as though you’re not wearing anything. Either mist it on the face or spray onto your hand and apply with a brush.

Eyes: Black is back! To achieve sultry smoky eyes this festive season check out MAC’s Greasepaint Stick ($38). It’s a black eye crayon that can be used as a soft but intense liner or blend out to create a smoke-like shadow. Long-wearing. Transfer and water-resistant. Its limited edition so girls, be quick.

Harlotte Cosmetics has also just launched its fabulous Smudge Pots in six great colours. Like the signature Black Smudge Pencil, they have been created specifically to create smoky eyes. Don’t be afraid to give them a go, they are so velvety and last up to eight hours without creasing.

Cheeks: with your smoky eyes – keep them soft and subtle– muted pink or peach.

Lips: nude them up if you are going for the smoky eyes or for your “I’m not wearing anything” day look, use a tinted lip conditioner. For the festive season go dramatic and stand out from the crowd with fabulous Red lips. Just keep your eye makeup simple. For super red lippy – try Lipstick Queens Red Sinner from Kit Cosmetics at $33.95."
