Catriona Rowntree and Adam Dixon wedding dress designer!

After the Getaway crew spent a day with CHIC in the City http://www.chicinthecitytours.com.au/ on tour I got some fantastic compliments from the gorgeous Catriona (who did not have a stylist at the time). I showed her where to shop for the best jeans for her look - high waisted of course perfect for her tush. She said never before has anyone got it so right! It was like a once in a million chance that someone could just look at you and say go here and buy these jeans in this make in this label etc.
Shortly afterwards she approached me to recommend the ultimate wedding dress designer. Initially keen to use Alex Perry 'dress maker to the stars' but why commission a designer that is already well known? Surely the Australian public would be expecting the Aussie starlet to use Alex Perry so I suggested she give them a surprise and choose a designer that was new and unfamiliar.
It was a great opportunity for Catriona to use Adam Dixon who's not only brilliant at what he does but it would raise the profile of this little unknown local designer. So who's Adam Dixon? He's a funny, witty guy originally from Brisbane with a real a'tude, unknown for his fine attention to detail, glitzy gowns, 1950's Romanticism, Audrey Hepburn inspired creations...high quality beading and his dog Kevin that keeps him sane. You won't find him if you Google him. He is without any technology ie, laptop, email or (gasp) website! Adam's boutique is a secret gem it goes unnoticed by most, even Sydneysiders, such as the famous Catriona, who as unaware of Adam Dixon prior to my introduction.
"Just imagine the headlines, Catriona Rowntree discovers Adam Dixon or something similar" I enthused. Of course Adam won over Catriona and her mother and offered to design her the ultimate couture dress with a 6 meter long train to boot.
He's going to get fab publicity, eight pages in Women's Weekly. Not exactly his clientele though. Perhaps Vogue might have been more Adam-esque. I met Adam yesterday, while I was taking a couple of ladies through his boutique on a CHIC in the City tour. Adam's eyes were bloodshot and sore from working round the clock to be ready for the wedding on 5 April. Poor fella is re beading the wedding train wore by Catriona's mum when she walked up the aisle. Unfortunately, some of the vintage beading fell off from a recent dry cleaning accident.
The Rowntree-Dixon relationship is going well and Adam might even attend the Australian wedding of the year. So the moral of the story?
1. Don't trust dry cleaners 2. Get techo savvy 3. CHIC in the City really is thee cool-hunters of local fashion : )
