Key Trend Accessories

There are a number of key accessories trends this season. In fact, the accessory is almost THE major trend for the season. With classic clean-cut clothes, you can do anything with your accessories to enhance your style. Here are our favourite accessory trends that will give your winter wardrobe that extra pizzazz!

Felt Hats
The 70's mood has brought these wonderful headpieces to the fore, (and what better way to keep your head warm!) found in many shapes, stick to fedoras and floppy wide brimmed hats.

Animal Accents
Last season, animal accents were used to lift neutrals, while this trend is still classic, this season, you can be a little more adventurous by teaming animal prints to add flair to brights, or to brighten head-to-toe black.  Keeping your outfit simple and adding animal accents in a belt, shoes, bag or scarf is the ultimate way to sport the trend.  Nat-Sui has a wonderful range of animal print accessories this season to give you that instant and timeless wardrobe update.  We just love their Savanna Leopard Pony Skin Platform!

Gold Jewellery
It’s all about the Gold Statement jewellery at the moment.
We love "Where did you get that?" pieces. And there's nothing that elicits this reaction more than a big statement necklace. From big, chunky hardware to detailed-but-dainty charms, we've singled out some bewitching baubles and stunning strands that will leave everyone you know drooling.

Paired with the strong gem colours of the season (think Emerald green, Ruby red and vibrant Sapphire blue). Gold is the must have requirement when buying jewellery this winter. Also, with those of us with warm skin tones gold is the most flattering, glow enhancing colour for jewellery to choose!
(To find out more on what colours suit your skin tone, be sure to book a style consultation)

Go to Tessarella or Mushu for some fabulous statement gold dress jewellery.

The Satchel
The box, the lady bag or messenger boy bag, whatever you like to call it, what ever style it comes, casual, chic, or cocktail as long as it has a satchel like shape - you have it sorted. Plus, you can finally fit everything into your bag. Look to bring colour in here by choose a different colour such as camel, yellow, green, blue or red. Need a reference here - what ones would we recommend?  Mulberry 'Tillie', Rachel Ruddick has just launched the perfect example.

Shearling

Forget fur, shearling is the way to stay warm this winter. From classic cuts to just a trim, shearling has been used in many jackets, bags, shoes and gloves. We love it in particular in the boots, the shearling trims give your weekend outfit extra warmth teamed with a classic trench or leather jacket and jeans…the shearling trim booties are a must! Go to Rachel Ruddick or Sambag for great shearling pieces.

Bright Bag
Finally, we are able to be adventurous and playful with colour and it’s all about the bag that goes POP with vivid hues of the spectrum. Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red or Purple whatever your liking, there is a bag out there in a style of your choice, clutch, shoulder bag or tote. Be aware that this trend is here to stay through spring/summer also, so choose a colour that works with your entire wardrobe to get the ultimate value for your purchase. Go to shopbop.com for a great selection of bags.

If you decide to take on only one of these trends, you’ll be on your way to looking very stylish this winter. Remember, to keep your outfit simple and use any of these accessories to boost your look. Be careful if you decide to mix these trends…remember less is more!
